A Synaesthetic Exploration of the Human Experience”
“Abstract Renaissance
A multidisciplinary artist and experimental musician with synaesthesia, Jake-Andrew's practice sits at the intersection of physical and digital art; centred around the way the mind can perceive audio or emotional stimulus as colour, texture, shape and movement.
We all have a relationship with colour and sound and his work exists as an expressive, physical performance that allows him to create projected installation environments and immersive experiences; either on screen or in situ.
2023 This work is the largest singular painting the artist has done to date. The palette is synaesthetically inspired by the track of the same name by the band This Will Destroy You and marks an important milestone in the artist's career. “Arena” narrates an internal battle of imposter syndrome and overcoming the personal limitations we place on ourselves through gestural abstraction and colour theory. A dance between elemental tones and movements, colliding together in a crescendo of noise that blooms through the central point. Size: 199x172x3.5cm. To bid on this work visit, and register at:

DESIRES HAVE ALREADY BECOME MEMORIES
2022 This work takes its palette inspiration from a composition by the musical duo A Winged Victory For The Sullen, and dictates the changing emotional states that time brings while understanding our existence and envisioning achievements. The painting serves as a reaction to the personal growth of each life stage, and at the same time a mindful reflection of our self acceptance. The central point glowing from within represents the feeling of being grounded in the present, with the swirling vortex surrounding representing time and perpetual motion. Size: 152x122x4cm. AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY
2021 Here is an example from 2020, which was one of the first pieces the artist exhibited the merging of his digital practice into the composition of his physical work. DEUS EX MACHINA
2023 Latin, “god from the machine”: A person or thing that appears or is introduced into a situation suddenly and unexpectedly and provides an artificial or contrived solution to an apparently insoluble difficulty. The piece was created during a difficult time when the artist was doubtful about remaining in this career as exhibitions were falling through and creators were not seeing a satisfactory outcome to their works. However, the artist also noted that the creative process was a natural becoming that could not be forcefully stopped, and remains as a major drive for him to stay in the field. The painting is also a reflection of his victory against inner voices to give up. Size: 120x100x4cm. To bid on this work visit, and register at:

STRAWBERRY SWING
2023 This piece was created under an overwhelming wave of inspiration during a sunny morning. The artist compared the creative journey to opening a book, watching the story unfold with multiple colliding layers as it finally comes together into a chaotically harmonious scene. Although the edges are “framed”, the tones seemingly glide out and run across the canvas while building it. The painting is described as a representation of true freedom and serotonin release in action. Size: 120x100x4cm. To bid on this work visit, and register at:

THE HANGED MAN
2019 Here we can see an older work, which was inspired by the advice given from the tarot card of the same name: "Put yourself in someone else's shoes in order to find a deeper sense of clarity and understanding. Accept this need for a pause or delay and find the nutrients this situation offers you". Size: 122x91x2cm. To bid on this work visit, and register at:

BEGIN AGAIN
2023 Painted on a bespoke canvas built on Waxham Beach during the peak of summer, the artist uses this work to celebrate freedom and the human experience. THE WORDS LEFT UNSPOKEN
2023 An unusual practice of the artist, who is using dark negative space as the main composition with only fractional tones peaking through in this piece. As the title suggests, the work denotes a metaphorical descent into a darker place channeling the loss of communication and familiarity, using sleek hyper saturated tones to accentuate the gradual descent. Size: 120x100x4cm. To bid on this work visit, and register at:

CALLING HOURS
2023 “Calling Hours” is the artist's most recent work and was created for this collaboration. It depicts a celebration of gestural abstraction and an introduction to the artist's "neo-abstract" structure, which has also been previously used in his digital compositions. The inspiration for this work was simple yet highly personal. Rather than expressing his own interpretation, the artist has chosen to leave an invitation for conversation with the audience. FRISSON - STUDY 3
2023 The "Frisson" series presents a small-scale collection in which the concept of "the goosebumps which certain phrases or passages of music create" is explored, detailing certain moments instead of full passages of music. The series can be viewed as a color study, clashing colors to express a moment of epiphany. Size: 55.5x45x4cm. To bid on this work visit, and register at:

CONVERGENCE
2023 This piece explores the artist's recent venture into the realm of digital abstraction, and takes physical form of the concept. "Convergence" was initially created as part of the Frisson series.
